Charity Year in Review 2024

The commitment to helping others reach their potential is a guiding principle for Old Republic Surety employees and is deeply embedded in our core value of "Generous." Throughout the year, our employees dedicate their time and talents to support their local communities. Here are some of the major initiatives for 2024.

Charitable MatchingCharitable Match

New in 2024, ORSC began matching employee's charitable contributions up to $100 per year! This included donations to a charity of their choice from financial support of the organization to participation fee for run/walks.

Charity Food Sculpture ContestCan sculpting 2024

Employees tried their luck at food sculpting this year! Non-perishable items were used to create a variety of sculptures from PacMan (thanks IT 😉) to a flower to the Eiffel Tower! Pictured on the right is courtesy of our Underwriting Department - the Mackinac Bridge. Which also happens to be a project bonded by yours truly! Read about it here

9th Annual ORSC Auction

auction 2024Every year employees band together for an annual silent auction. This year, employees raised $2,626 during the auction and Old Republic Surety matched, and increased, the donation to $5,000! 

Everyone has the opportunity to suggest a benefiting charity and then one is selected at random. This year's auction proceeds went to the Bryon Riesch Paralysis Foundation!

Gift Bag Assembly

129 gift bags of fidget toys were assembled in the Home Office. What we thought would take a couple of days to complete, was done in a couple of short hours!

Loved Ministries brings comfort and hope to the youth ages 12-18 living in foster care group homes in Wisconsin.

Backpack Coalition

This year, it was expected that 32% of parents with school-age children would go into debt when shopping for back-to-school (up from 30% in 2020). Employees generously pitched in by donating 278 school supplies for local students!

Sponsored Two Families

Christmas Clearing Council 2024Employees got involved and helped make a difference for children in Waukesha County by giving them the joy of Christmas through sponsoring two families this year. The Christmas Clearing Council of Waukesha County promotes and coordinates giving to families in need during the Christmas season.

Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS)HAWS 2024

We all have a special place in our hearts for our pets and want to ensure the safety of animals in need. Through our monetary donation and sponsorship of the annual "Happy Tails" benefit, we are helping HAWS strengthen "the bond between animals and humans through adoption and education - making a more compassionate community and happy tails possible."

This year, they were kind enough to bring their mobile adoption service with several animals out to Home Office.

Breakthrough T1D Breakthrough T1D 2024

Reaching across the U.S., our monetary donation to Breakthrough T1D (previously Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, JDRF) helps continue the work of bringing life-changing treatments and therapies to millions of people living with type 1 diabetes until a cure is found.

This year, a Student Ambassador shared her story with employees, while employees enjoyed a diabetic-friendly lunch. Nationally, over $2,000 was raised through three walks in Charlotte, NC; Knoxville, TN; and Milwaukee, WI.

Close to our Home Office, our monetary donation supports the local Junior Achievement chapter to inspire and prepare young people for success. Their lessons in financial literacy, work and career readiness, and entrepreneurship have proven to positively impact the lives of young people.
